Malaria Day Event in Kigali, Rwanda
HISP Rwanda joined Rwanda Health, Rwanda Biomedical Center, WHO Rwanda, the City of Kigali and other partners at the national Malaria Day event in Ndera, Gasabo District, on 25 April. HISP Rwanda gave a demonstration of DHIS2-based malaria surveillance indicators dashboard, including the Electronic Community Event Based Surveillance used by Community Health Workers and the Village Level Weekly Malaria Surveillance Tracker used at health facilities. More

Technical Workshop in Burundi
As part of its ongoing support for improving health information system data, HISP WCA (West and Central Africa) lead a technical workshop in April, coordinated by HISP Africa, for national DHIS2 experts to work on complex questions and challenges related to DHIS2 implementation in Burundi. This event follows the first phase of HISP WCA’s work to mobilize health programs and technical partners in the country. More

DHIS2 National Forum in Ethiopia
HISP Ethiopia 
participated in the country’s third DHIS2 National Forum, organized by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The two-day event featured new digital health initiatives, panel discussions with key stakeholders, presentations about DHIS2 use cases and improvements, a hackathon, and an exhibit space for showcasing practical solutions. HISP UiO Supports OpenEPI and Norad Workshop
Representatives of the HISP Centre at the University of Oslo (HISP UiO) DHIS2 core team participated in a two-day technical workshop with OpenEPI, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and others, to explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing around satellite data, generic building blocks, metadata, interoperability, and making ML models and training data accessible. More

CAR Minister of Health Visits HISP Rwanda
HISP Rwanda 
welcomed his excellency Dr. Pierre Somse, the Minister of Health and Population for the Central African Republic (CAR), to the group’s offices in Kigali, on 5 April. Somse and HISP Rwanda leaders discussed health data digitalization, and health system strengthening in the CAR through sustainable digital solutions. This meeting follows a memorandum of understanding signed by HISP Rwanda and the Ministry in December 2024. More

Health Infrastructure Workshop in Syria
Syria’s Ministry of Health and the Royal Norwegian Embassies in Syria and Lebanon hosted a high-level workshop in Damascus on 8 April to address the challenges and needs within Syria’s health sector. Following more than a decade of civil war, Syria is now united under one government, marking a pivotal moment for the country’s efforts to rebuild its health system. Representatives from HISP MENA (Middle East and North Africa) supported this workshop and shared insights from the group’s work in northwestern Syria and Damascus, and new efforts to unify the DHIS2 agenda in One Syria. More

Internal Data Quality Training
HISP Africa, HISP UiO and HISP Tanzania kicked off a six-day training on 28 April for all HISP groups within the HISP Africa hub. The training includes 20 participants from HISP Rwanda, HISP WCA, HISP UNIMA (University of Malawi), HISP Nigeria, who learned about the DHIS2 Data Quality Toolkit, the Routine Data Quality Assessment, the Data Quality Review Routine Supervision Checklist, and other topics. More

PAHO DHIS2 Core Team Training
Colleagues from HISP UiO joined with representatives from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to train a core DHIS2 team within PAHO to support the regional vaccine preventable disease surveillance platform and work with countries on DHIS2 strengthening. PAHO’s immunization program is transitioning its legacy regional surveillance data software to DHIS2, providing countries with exciting new opportunities to analyze their data, improve their integrated surveillance systems, and share information throughout the region on infectious disease threats. DHIS2 Training in Kinshasa
HISP WCA and HISP DRC conducted training on DHIS2 administration and maintenance through close collaboration with local health authorities. This training, part of a larger effort to build national capacity for health information system management, was held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), 24 March – 2 April. More

DHIS2 Integration Workshop in Zimbabwe
HISP UiO 
and HISP Zimbabwe, with the support of HISP Africa, hosted a DHIS2 Integration Workshop on 7-11 April in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The workshop covered practical DHIS2 implementation skills and real-world use cases, as well as a number of joint training sessions with the DHIS2 Android Implementation Academy held in parallel.

Training for Rehabilitation Tools and Data Entry in Morogoro
HISP Tanzania 
facilitated a hands-on training session focused on the use of digitized rehabilitation tools and best practices for data entry. The training, held in Morogoro, Tanania, brought together key stakeholders from the health sector, including practitioners providing rehabilitation care at health facilities. Participants received practical guidance on navigating the digital forms and on using DHIS2 for accurate and timely data reporting. More

DHIS2 for Education Implementation Featured in New Video
HISP Uganda is highlighted in a new African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) video about DHIS2 for Education implementation through the Knowledge Innovation Exchange-Strengthening and Enhancing Education Data Systems (KIX-SEEDS) project in Uganda. The video features interviews with HISP Uganda’s EMIS project coordinator, Florence Musinguzi, and information systems assistant, Bridget Kusiima, as well as stakeholders from APHRC, Uganda’s Ministry of Education, Gulu District, and others. E-Registry DHIS2 Solution for Digitizing Registration Books
Through its collaborative DHIS2 implementation action research project with the Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau, HISP Ethiopia has developed a DHIS2-based solution called “E-Registry” to support digitizing health facility registration books and automatically syncing to DHIS2. E-Registry allows health providers to register patient data directly into the system at the point of service, replacing paper-based processes. More

Implementing DHIS2 for Education in Makassar
HISP Indonesia
and the Makassar city government are implementing DHIS2 for Education through the Sikolaki initiative’s Community Based Development Information System, enabling real-time tracking of out-of-school children across 153 urban villages. More

Information Dissemination Tool in Ethiopia
HISP Ethiopia 
has developed an information dissemination tool for the Ethiopian health sector, called INFO-CAST, which provides a cost-effective, compact, and powerful solution for real-time health data visualization, integrating directly with DHIS2 and other existing health information systems. It enables facilities to easily monitor key health indicators, patient flow, resource allocation, and other critical metrics by displaying visualizations on TVs and other displays in health facilities.
