DHIS2 2025 Annual Conference Rallies Global Participation in Challenging Times
The DHIS2 2025 Annual Conference brought together almost 350 participants from 70+ countries to share innovations and reaffirm commitment to sustaining DHIS2 systems.
The HISP Centre at the University of Oslo (HISP UiO), which develops and maintains the DHIS2 open-source software, hosted the 2025 DHIS2 Annual Conference, 10–13 June on the UiO campus, welcoming almost 350 in-person attendees from 75 countries around the world, in addition to more than 2,000 registered online participants.
The central theme of the conference was how to sustain DHIS2 in challenging times. This addresses a concern in the global health community about the impacts of declining financial assistance for health programs in low- and middle-income countries since the Covid pandemic, and the sudden cut in development aid funding from the United States in early 2025.

Despite a challenging funding environment, the strong turnout at this year’s conference reflects the unwavering commitment of ministries, implementers, donors, developers, and technical partners to sustain and scale DHIS2 systems. Many participants cited the importance of locally owned, digital public goods in navigating fiscal uncertainty and advancing data-driven decision making.
The conference underscored the resilience and innovation of the DHIS2 ecosystem—demonstrating that, even amid financial constraints, the global community stands firm in its mission to strengthen digital infrastructure in health, education, logistics, and beyond.
Recordings of the conference sessions are available on the DHIS2 YouTube channel in French and English, and conference presentations can be found on this year’s agenda. View photos from the event in our online album.
