Using DHIS2 Climate Tools: A flexible toolkit for climate data integration

Learn how to access, process and upload local and global climate, weather and environmental data to DHIS2 and the Chap Modeling Platform.

Format

Online

Date

4 Feb 2026

Time

11:00 - 12:00 CET

This is both a standalone webinar to introduce the new DHIS2 Climate Tools, and part 6 of the Advanced Webinar Series on Spatiotemporal Modeling of Climate-Sensitive Diseases.

DHIS2 Climate Tools is an open-source, collaborative Python toolkit that combines a curated Python environment, practical how-to guides, and end-to-end example workflows for integrating climate, weather, and environmental data into DHIS2. The toolkit gives users a ready-to-use environment for exploring, analyzing, visualizing, and importing global and local data sources. This webinar covers essential climate data tools and sources, including global datasets like ERA5 and CHIRPS. We will demonstrate GIS techniques for data harmonization needed to align climate datasets with administrative regions where health information is routinely collected.

Note: While open to everyone, this webinar series is targeting technically prepared participants with Python/R skills, epi/stats expertise, and motivation to develop or work with early warning systems for climate-sensitive diseases.
