Training

Internal Data Quality Training for HISP Africa
HISP Africa and the HISP Centre at the University of Oslo (HISP UiO) organized an Internal Data Quality Training for all HISP Groups in Africa during May. This six-day training, held in Dar es Salaam and facilitated by HISP Tanzania, hosted more than 20 participants from HISP groups in Rwanda, Ethiopia, Uganda, Nigeria, West and Central Africa, South Africa, and Malawi. Their training covered a variety of concepts and aimed to share principles for implementing various data quality measures and practices. It included overviews of the DHIS2 data quality toolkit, the eRDQA (Routine Data Quality Assessment) and DQR-RSC (Data Quality Review Routine Supervision Checklist) programs and supervision application. DHIS2 Train the Trainer in Islamabad
HISP Pakistan hosted a five-day training of trainers on the DHIS2-based health management information system (HMIS) in Islamabad in May, with participation from district-level health staff. The training aimed to enhance the capacity of health teams in managing and utilizing digital health data for improved decision-making, and participants learned about metadata configuration, mobile and web data entry, dashboards, and reporting functionalities. A key highlight of the training was the introduction and practical orientation on the Nutrition Module, which has been integrated into the HMIS. More
Arabic-Language Academy in Jordan
HISP Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and HISP UiO collaborated to organize a Tracker Configuration Academy in Amman, Jordan, 3-8 May. The team welcomed 30 participants from six Arab countries, representing a wide range of national Ministries of Health from Jordan, Yemen, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as officials from United Nations agencies, and the academic sector. eLMIS Training in Comoros
HISP Rwanda and HISP UiOÂ organized a waterfall training on the eLMIS system in Comoros, in the regions of Ngazidja, Anjouan and Moheli. More than 45 health institutions are participating in this initiative, which includes practical STR exercises, focused on managing prescription medications. The goal is to ensure effective mastery of the eLMIS system for better management of stocks in healthcare facilities. More
DHIS2 for Education Webinar Series
The HISP Uganda DHIS2 for Education implementation team has launched a new webinar series, beginning with a webinar on Data Analysis held on 16 May. “Beyond Reporting: Smart Education Data Analysis in DHIS2 for better planning,” was the first in the series, with new topics to follow. More

Delegation from Nepal Visits HISP UiO
HISP UiO welcomed a delegation from Nepal’s Pokhara University to the HISP Centre offices on 22 May. The group met UiO Vice-rector Mette Halskov-Hansen, had a presentation about DHIS2’s compatibility with the Nepalese calendar, and learned about DHIS2’s use in Tanzania’s health services. The team from Nepal were visiting to explore potential collaborations on the DHIS2 for Climate & Health project. Nepal is one of 10 pilot countries involved in this project. More
World Health Assembly Digital Health Event
HISP UiO colleague Mike Frost was a panelist for a session on “Digital health transformation in the global NCD response,” in a World Health Assembly side event co-hosted by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and World Diabetes Foundation. He shared how DHIS2 supports digital health transformation alongside co-panelists from the World Health Organization and IDF. More
Future of Rehabilitation Event in Oslo
HISP UiO DHIS2 Consultant Yury Rogachev gave a presentation on “Rehabilitation 2030: A Call to Action” at the “Future of Rehabilitation” event hosted by the Norwegian Hospital and Health Service Association in Oslo. His talk demonstrated how digital tools like the DHIS2 Rehabilitation Toolkit and the standard WHO indicator set can help countries strengthen their rehabilitation services. MoreÂ

Lao PDR Launches Climate & Health Resilience Project
Lao PDR’s Ministry of Health launched its first climate-resilient health system initiative in a five-year project supported by World Health Organization and Save the Children, and funded by the Green Climate Fund, to improve health services for over 1.8 million people. DHIS2 will serve as the national platform for linking climate data with health outcomes, enabling early warning systems and informed responses to climate-sensitive diseases, with implementation support from HISP Vietnam. Climate & Health Implementation in Mozambique
Saudigitus (HISP Mozambique) is working with the country’s National Institute of Meteorology (INAM), the entity responsible for monitoring, analyzing and disseminating meteorological and climate data, to develop a new digital repository of climate data. This work is part of the Climate and Health project, led by HISP UiO, whose main objective is to use climate data to support the creation of an early warning system aimed at health and other sectors vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Logistics Implementation in Comoros
Representatives from HISP Rwanda and HISP UiO attended a meeting with Dr. Ben Imani Issa, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Union of the Comoros, on May 6, as part of an exchange on the implementation progress of the supply chain management system for health products in the Union of the Comoros. More
Partnership

New Partnership on Digital Education Tools
HISP UiO and the Spix Foundation have announced a new partnership to improve the quality and interoperability of digital education tools in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The agreement sets out a framework for collaboration on the RESPECT project and DHIS2 for Education, an open-source platform that helps Ministries of Education use data for planning, decision-making, and monitoring. The partnership will enable DHIS2 for Education to support RESPECT’s xAPI-formatted data stream, allowing integration with other mobile-based tools and contributing to a more cohesive digital education ecosystem. DHIS2 Extensibility Team Meets Colleagues in Tanzania
Several members of the DHIS2 core software engineering team from HISP UiO visited Tanzania in May for a series of collaborative meetings with colleagues from HISP Tanzania, the University of Dar es Salaam, and DHIS2 Developer Champions from HISP groups across Africa. The meetings focused on sharing experiences and strengthening collaboration across the DHIS2 developer community. Teams presented local projects that extend DHIS2 in innovative ways to better meet the needs of their specific contexts—across web, mobile, and server-side applications. More
HISP UiO and Madagascar Launch One Health Initiative
The government of Madagascar and HISP UiO have launched a new collaboration to support the digitalization of the country’s One Health platform and laboratory information system, with financial support from The World Bank. The partnership will focus on developing a DHIS2-based One Health platform and an interoperable laboratory information system to improve data sharing and strengthen disease surveillance across sectors. Climate and Health Subcommittee in Uganda
HISP Uganda participated in the Climate & Health Subcommittee convened by the Ministry of Health of Uganda, and presented updates on ongoing efforts in climate and health data integration, including demonstrations of their data integration and modeling tools. This group brings together key stakeholders to collaborate on the implementation of the National Health Adaptation Plan (N-HAP). More
