HISP Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct applies to work of HISP UiO and the HISP groups and their employees that are members of the HISP network.
Introduction
HISP encourages respect for the laws, culture and religion in the host countries and countries they work in/supports, insofar as these do not conflict with international human rights standards. HISP strives to obtain a health-promoting working environment, physically and mentally.
Responsibility
All employees and contractors must act according to the Code of Conduct. We do not discriminate or harass workmates/colleagues, partners or other people we meet as HISP employees. When representing HISP, we are respectful towards one another and show our best behavior at all times, even when not at work. We, as an employee and employers, take responsibility for our actions and report if we observe incidents that negatively affect the working environment, safety or reputation of HISP. HISP contributes to a positive and professional working environment. Our HSE (Health, Security and Environment) work is a continuous improvement effort.
Anti-Discrimination and Equality
We respect the fundamental and inherent human rights of all people, as codified by the UN, and treat all employees and contractors as equal, regardless of race, sex, nationality, language, religion, or any other status. Discrimination against employees based on their individual status, characteristics, or conditions shall not occur, either in employment processes or later in the employment relationship. The individual’s characteristics must be respected and valued. We respond actively if we observe harassment or inappropriate behavior, and we work preventively to ensure an inclusive working environment. A diverse and inclusive workplace enables us to deliver better solutions.
Corruption
HISP finds any form of corruption unacceptable. Corruption includes the offering or receiving an undue advantage under one’s position, office or mission in the form of money, gifts or services and by unjustly obtaining an advantage for oneself or one’s organization. Employees must exercise great caution regarding gifts and invitations from and to customers, partners and suppliers of sizes beyond what applies as usual attention.
Environment
We work systematically with environmental measures in everyday life to reduce our environmental footprint. Examples are the use of digital meetings to reduce travel. When traveling, we use transportation options with the lowest possible emissions.
