DHIS2 2025 Annual Conference
More than 350 participants, speakers, moderators, staff and volunteers gathered on the campus of the University of Oslo in June for the DHIS2 2025 Annual Conference. Despite a challenging funding environment, the strong turnout at this year’s conference reflects the unwavering commitment of ministries, implementers, donors, developers, and technical partners to sustain and scale DHIS2 systems. DHIS2 Climate & Health Conference
The HISP Centre at the University of Oslo (HISP UiO) hosted an invitation-only conference and workshop with the HISP groups, national teams, technical partners, and other stakeholders involved in the DHIS2 Climate & Health project. In total, the event gathered 65 participants from 20 countries. More
United Nations Open Source Week
HISP UiO representative Pamod Amarakoon represented DHIS2 at UN Open Source Week in New York, 16-20 June, engaging with the global digital public goods (DPG) and digital public infrastructure (DPI) community. More
United Nations Internet Governance Forum
A team from HISP UiO participated in the 2025 United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF), a global platform where stakeholders from around the world come together to discuss public policy issues related to the internet—from digital inclusion to data governance and beyond. During the event, Professor Kristin Braa, HISP UiO director, joined a panel on the topic “Norway and the Internet,” where she spoke about scaling internet technologies, and how the arrival of broadband and mobile internet in Africa was crucial for enabling countries to scale their DHIS2 systems. Global Health EDCTP3 Forum
Joan Nakibuuka from HISP Uganda spoke at the Global Health EDCTP3 Forum in Kigali, presenting insights on data integration across climate, air pollution, and non-communicable diseases, and sharing insights from leveraging DHIS2 to link environmental and health data. Global Health EDCTP3 is a partnership between the European Commission, representing the European Union, and the EDCTP Association, representing the governments of European and sub-Saharan African countries. KIX-SEEDS Annual Meeting
HISP Uganda and HISP West & Central Africa participated in the KIX–SEEDS Annual General Meeting, 2-5 June, in Burkina Faso, and showcased Uganda’s progress in strengthening education data systems. HISP Uganda presented the progress and key lessons learned during the first year of implementing the KIX-SEEDS project and shared insights on the implementation of DHIS2 in education in Uganda, including a live demonstration of the system and the School Report Card. HISP WCA presented innovations implemented with DHIS2 to strengthen education systems in Togo, the Gambia, Sierra Leone and Senegal. More
UiO Centre for Global Sustainability Opening
Professor Kristin Braa, HISP UiO director, took part in the opening ceremony for UiO’s new Centre for Global Sustainability, an interdisciplinary centre that will bring together leading researchers working to support a more just and sustainable future. Braa presented the HISP Centre’s work on DHIS2 for Climate & Health, which leverages DHIS2 and other open-source digital tools to help governments in low- and middle-income countries analyze, predict, and respond to health impacts of climate change. HISP Centre Researchers Join Norwegian Centre for AI
HISP UiO researchers are part of a new Norwegian national centre for AI. TRUST, the Norwegian Centre for Trustworthy AI, aims to develop an interdisciplinary knowledge base for the development of safe, fair, and responsible AI, and includes HISP UiO researchers and partners from the DHIS2 for Climate & Health project. Professor Geir Kjetil Sandve is part of the TRUST leadership team as a co-director and Professor Kristin Braa, director of the HISP Centre, is a principal investigator for TRUST. More

DHIS2 Health Program Capacity Building in Indonesia
HISP Indonesia facilitated a series of interactive sessions during a tw0-day training event hosted by the Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi DKI Jakarta Pusdatin, focused on advancing the capacity of health program teams and sub-district health offices in the use of DHIS2. More
Science of Defeating Malaria Leadership Course
HISP Rwanda participated in the Science of Defeating Malaria (SDM) 2025 leadership course in Kigali, showcasing how community health workers in Rwanda are leveraging digital tools to collect and visualize real-time health data, enabling quicker and more informed decision-making at all levels of the healthcare system. DHIS2 Data Analysis and Quality Training
HISP Rwanda facilitated a DHIS2 data analysis and quality training, 16-27 June in Libreville, which featured remarks by Dr. Nsenga Ngoy, WHO Representative in Gabon. Dr. Ngoy praised the commitment of the participants, emphasizing the importance of reliable data for informed decision-making in public health. MoreÂ
WHO Surveillance Data Standards Webinar
DHIS2 experts from HISP West & Central Africa and HISP Uganda shared a presentation on DHIS2 disease surveillance and outbreak response during a webinar hosted by the WHO Emergency Hub Nairobi, GOARN OST & WHO SAG Teams. Recordings are available in English and French. More
Implementation

Toolkit for Case-Based Mpox Implementation
Representatives from the HISP UiO and the HISP Africa hub joined forces with Africa CDC and the Incident Management Support Team in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, to design a toolkit to work with existing DHIS2 Tracker case-based implementations to support the ongoing Mpox outbreak management in African countries. More
Palestine’s Integrated Health Records
The Ministry of Health in Palestine has launched an ambitious initiative to unify maternal, child, and family health records under one national information system using DHIS2. This effort builds on more than ten years of innovation and successful implementation in the country and is being carried out in collaboration with HISP UiO, HISP Middle East & North Africa, and the World Health Organization Palestine Office. Meeting with Central African Republic Officials
HISP Rwanda participated in a meeting with the Minister of Health of the Central African Republic and implementation parters to discuss plans for a digital community monitoring system. During the meeting, attendees identified pilot areas and prepared the foundation for a phased expansion plan, based on data and feedback from the field. More
Malaria Data Repository in Uganda
HISP Uganda is working with the Ministry of Health of Uganda’s National Malaria Elimination Division to develop a robust Malaria Repository powered by DHIS2. This initiative will establish a central, integrated platform for all malaria-related data—both routine and non-routine—making access and use of critical information easier. By improving data accessibility, HISP Uganda aims to strengthen data-driven decision-making in Uganda’s fight to eliminate malaria. More
Technical Mission to Cotonou
HISP West & Central Africa conducted a technical mission to Cotonou, Benin, alongside local implementation partners and health officials, with the aim of configuring the revised Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) tools in DHIS2. This mission laid a solid foundation for more efficient and centralized management of vaccination data in Benin. More
