    Introduction to DHIS2

In this course, you will learn about the fundamental concepts that underpin how DHIS2 works, such as its building blocks and how data are entered, validated, analyzed, and shared. You will also discover the community that surrounds DHIS2, learn about its history and its supporting ecosystem. This course is the first course in the DHIS2 Fundamentals courses program. If you are new to DHIS2, we recommend you start your DHIS2 learning journey here.

Introduction to DHIS2 is a completely online, self-paced course that should take you approximately 3 hours to complete.

After completing this course, you’ll be able to:

    • Identify examples of the use of DHIS2 in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of public health and education programs.
    • Recognize how DHIS2 can be used to capture, analyze, and share data to make informed decisions.
    • Identify the DHIS2 building blocks that make it possible to customize and extend the capabilities of the platform.
    • Indicate DHIS2 advantages as open-source software and its potential for integration with other platforms.
    • Recognize the roles and the relationship between the University of Oslo (UiO) and the HISP network to create, develop, apply, and improve DHIS2 in the context of Global Digital Health programs.
    • Distinguish the elements that comprise the DHIS2 ecosystem and the ways to interact with the DHIS2 global community.

Aggregate Data Capture & Validation Fundamentals

In this course, you will learn to use DHIS2 for capturing and validating aggregate data. Through videos, demonstrations, step-by-step activities, and labs, you will learn how data are incorporated through a web browser application or an Android device. You will also learn how aggregate data can be captured without a stable internet connection and the steps you can follow to ensure the quality of the data entered.

Aggregate Data Capture & Validation Fundamentals is a completely online, self-paced course that should take you approximately 5 hours to complete.

After completing this course, you’ll be able to:

    • Identify the types of data you can enter into DHIS2
    • Enter data into DHIS2 using a web browser with the Data Entry app
    • Enter data into DHIS2 using an Android device with the DHIS2 Capture app
    • Enter data into DHIS2 while offline
    • Run a data validation test on your data
    • Complete a data set
    • Use the Data Quality app to run a batch validation test on aggregate data, check for outliers and check for data that is marked for follow-up
