While the major DHIS2 software releases come bundled with the latest versions of all core DHIS2 applications, DHIS2 is designed as an application platform, allowing administrators to control which version of these apps are used in their DHIS2 system. Updates to core DHIS2 apps are available through continuous release, and new versions can be downloaded and installed at any time.

We currently publish major releases of the core DHIS2 software on a yearly basis and updates to the Android Capture app twice a year, and provide support and maintenance updates for the three most recent versions. We publish regular patch releases for all supported versions to address bugs and feature updates between major releases. We also publish “hotfix” releases as needed to address urgent security vulnerabilities or critical bugs. Announcements of all releases are made on the DHIS2 Community of Practice.

The DHIS2 roadmap is public, allowing you to easily see which features are planned for our upcoming releases. New features and improvements are added to the roadmap through a structured prioritization process that takes into account input from DHIS2 stakeholders in low- and middle-income countries as well as strategic input from our internal teams and partners.
