Dramatic decreases in global health funding and official development assistance have had a serious impact in low- and middle-income countries. Faced with shrinking budgets, governments are forced to prioritize, and to balance the costs and benefits of sustaining digital systems against other urgent needs. In this webinar, Ministries of Health from several countries in Africa and Asia will talk about their experiences navigating the new funding landscape, share how they are prioritizing digital interventions, and discuss the importance of sustaining country-owned Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).

Members of the DHIS2 core team from the HISP Centre at the University of Oslo will also share findings from a survey carried out by the HISP network in early 2025 that captured the impact of funding cuts on national HMIS in 48 countries, and discuss coordinated approaches to address critical gaps and ensure long-term sustainability.
