Country Profiles: Locally led adoption of DHIS2 for Climate & Health

Through the DHIS2 Climate & Health project, the local groups in the HISP network have been working with local stakeholders in countries in Africa and Asia to design, test, and deploy innovative tools and approaches to strengthen the climate resilience of national health systems and help local communities adapt and respond to the health impacts of climate change.

Comoros

Comoros is integrating climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into DHIS2 for enhanced malaria early warning to support more timely and targeted interventions.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia is exploring integration of climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into existing DHIS2 systems to support national climate and health priorities, with an initial focus on malaria risk assessment and early warning.

Guinea Bissau

Guinea Bissau is integrating climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into existing DHIS2 systems for enhanced malaria early warning to support more timely and targeted interventions and exploring innovative solutions for additional climate-health priorities.

Laos

Lao PDR leverages existing DHIS2 health information system infrastructure and capacity and new tools for climate data integration and predictive modeling to support a multi-threat approach to highly seasonal public health challenges.

Malawi

Malawi is building on more than a decade of work on climate and health by enhancing data harmonization, integrating new DHIS2 predictive modeling capabilities with EWARS to support early warning for malaria and other climate-sensitive diseases, and developing innovative tools to help drive informed action from national to community levels.

Mozambique

Mozambique is exploring integration of climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into existing DHIS2 systems to support national climate and health priorities, with an initial focus on malaria early warning.

Nepal

Nepal is leveraging local climate and health expertise to explore using climate data and predictive modeling capabilities in DHIS2 to support early warning of dengue outbreaks, as well as other national health priorities.

Rwanda

Rwanda is exploring integration of climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into existing DHIS2 systems to support national climate and health priorities, with an initial focus on malaria early warning.

South Sudan

South Sudan is exploring integration of climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into existing DHIS2 systems for enhanced malaria early warning to support more timely and targeted interventions.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka leverages existing DHIS2 health information system infrastructure and capacity and new tools for climate and environmental data integration and predictive modeling to support a multi-threat approach to climate-related health impacts.

Tanzania

Tanzania is exploring integration of climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into existing DHIS2 systems to support national climate and health priorities, with an initial focus on malaria early warning.

Togo

Togo builds on previous climate-health work and existing DHIS2 health information system infrastructure and capacity to help improve malaria campaign planning and provide stakeholders with an overview of climate impacts on health programs.

Uganda

Uganda is exploring integration of climate data and predictive modeling capabilities into existing DHIS2 systems to support national climate and health priorities, with an initial focus on malaria climatic suitability mapping, forecasting acute malnutrition, and analyzing health effects of air pollution.
