    Conference Overview

    The DHIS2 Asia/Pacific Conference is a place for the DHIS2 community to meet and share experiences about DHIS2, learn about the latest developments and innovations, and make connections that can lead to new partnerships and collaborations.

    This conference will balance both discussion and information sharing as well as learning technical skills through the use of parallel sessions. It is most comparable to a regional version of the DHIS2 Annual Conference hosted yearly in Oslo.

    Learning Outcomes

    The Conference will include:

    Discussion sessions

    •  Review of the latest DHIS2 features
     Using the latest version of DHIS2, we will provide a background on the latest DHIS2 features and how they can potentially support your DHIS2 implementation.
    • Country updates
    Countries within the Asia Pacific region will provide an overview of current implementation efforts, successes and challenges. These discussions will be led by local Ministries.
    • DHIS2 Climate and Health
    Review the features in DHIS2 that support the addition of climate data and hear from countries that are implementing these features in their own settings.
    • Cross sector collaboration
    Discuss how DHIS2 can be used across different sectors within a single implementation. Examples include education, civil registration and health.
    • Partner Collaboration
    Hear from development partners and how they are supporting DHIS2 implementations within the region.
    • ICD-11 for mortality and morbidity
    Review how collaborations with CDC and WHO have led to innovations in collecting and codifying mortality and morbidity data in DHIS2.

    Technical Sessions

    • The development and maintenance of client health registries
    Review how to implement and maintain a reference list of all of the individuals in a country that can be used in DHIS2 as well as other systems.
    • Interoperability
    Review the requirements to set up interoperability between DHIS2 and other systems as well as examples of interoperability that have been set up in the field.
    • Visualisation Tools and Data Quality
    Review the features that can be used to visualise data in DHIS2 and discuss how these tools can support the routine review of data.

    Your Facilitation Team

    The conference will be hosted and facilitated by the HISP Asia Hub, with an emphasis on experience and solution sharing among countries and to promote networking and collaboration among DHIS2 implementers in the region.
    The HISP Asia Hub is a partnership of HISP groups within the region that provide coordinated project support to our partners. This partnership includes the following HISP groups:
    • HISP Bangladesh
    • HISP India
    • HISP Indonesia
    • HISP Pakistan
    • HISP Sri Lanka
    • HISP Vietnam
    • HISP Middle East & North Africa

    Through this partnership, we work together on providing best-in-class DHIS2 implementation support to our partners in the region by leveraging each other’s strengths through this joint collaboration mechanism.

    This conference will include several global and regional DHIS2 experts from the HISP Asia Hub and the University of Oslo that you will be able to discuss your requirements and implementations with. You will have an opportunity to learn more about the HISP Asia Hub during the conference and how we can support your individual needs.

    Travel Information

    Airport: The Da Nang International Airport is the third busiest airport in Vietnam. It is an important transportation hub in the central region. The airport is located 2 km from the city center. Vietnam Airlines operates a number of daily flights to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and other destinations in Vietnam. International flights to Da Nang airport operate from Singapore, Seoul, South Korea and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    Immigration and Visa Information: The Vietnamese Immigration Department issues E-visas to foreigners through an online application process. E-visas are issued with a validity period of up to 90 days, one-entry for 25 USD or multiple entries for 50 USD. Information on evisa is available here.

    Airport Transfer: You can book your airport transfer with your hotel. Besides, taxis from several companies are available on the arrivals level at the airport. Confirm a fixed or metered rate with a taxi representative. Mai Linh taxi is a reputable company serving Da Nang International Airport. Book transfers to and from Da Nang International Airport (DAD) here.

    Climate: In October, the Da Nang weather, typical of Central Vietnam weather, paints a picturesque scene along Vietnam’s central coast. The city experiences a mix of temperatures, ranging from a pleasant high of 83°F (28°C) to a low of 76°F (25°C). While there’s a 58% chance of rainfall on any given day, these showers are usually fleeting, providing a welcome break from the sunny spells. Travelers are advised to stay updated with Da Nang weather in October forecasts and pack a light raincoat or umbrella to be prepared for any unexpected showers

    Currency: Vietnamese Dong

    Banking and ATM: There are certain places in Da Nang that have ATM vestibule banks like this but they are very rare and will only be at the largest shopping malls and at the airport. You still need some cash with you since some local hotels, restaurants, cafes, stores only accept cash. Make sure to withdraw some cash at the airport ATM.

    Official Language:Vietnamese is the official language of Vietnam.

    Electricity: Vietnam uses Type A, Type C, Type F and Type G power plugs and sockets. In Vietnam, electrical supply is 200 Volts and 50Hz. Type A can be characterized as having 2 flat vertical pins, common in the US. Type C is more common in the EU, and has two round pins that are 4.0mm.
