Meet SEMIS: Free, Open-Source School Management Built on DHIS2

SEMIS is now available to everyone for the first time! Built on DHIS2 and developed in collaboration with ministries of education, the app gives education officials one place to manage individual student and staff records, track attendance and enrollment, and plan the academic year. It runs both on the Web and on Android devices.

In this webinar, the DHIS2 for Education team will demonstrate the app’s key features, including:

• Offline Registration and Enrollment – Register new students and staff without internet access and sync the records later, with safeguards against duplicates.
• Comprehensive student and staff profile – View a student’s or staff member’s full record on one configurable screen.
• Faster attendance tracking – Record only absences and count everyone else as present. This reduces teachers workload and the volume of data stored and synced.
• Academic Performance records – Record and review student assessment results and academic progress,with options to reflect the local grading system.
• School-to-school transfers– with approval from both the sending and receiving schools.
• Student Promotions and next year enrollment – Manage promotions, repetition, and enrollment for the next academic year, while recording dropouts and graduation to keep student records up to date.
• School Calendar – Define academic years,terms,holidays and other non-school days to align attendance tracking and school activities with the local academic calendar.
• Bulk operations – for efficient data management.
