The October 2026 HISP Highlights post features the latest news, achievements, and updates from across our global HISP network.

3 Nov 2026 HISP: History, Work & Impact

October brought DHIS2 partners together in Kigali, where HISP Rwanda hosted the DHIS2 Technical Gathering on the Global Fund Digital Health Impact Accelerator integration projects, and took HISP UiO teams to Uganda to learn from users of the Ministry of Health’s new DHIS2-based eRegisters. Climate-health work continued to gather pace, with Chap and early warning efforts in Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. Education data systems were in focus from Ethiopia and The Gambia to Nigeria and the GEM Report launch in Oslo. Closer to home, the HISP Centre celebrated another PhD defense.

This month’s highlights include the Advanced DHIS2 Workshop for Eastern Caribbean countries in St. Vincent; the DHIA technical gathering in Kigali; a field visit by HISP UiO’s software and communications team to explore Uganda’s eRegisters; HISP WCA’s climate and health mission in Senegal and preparations for Chap deployment in the DRC; HISP Uganda’s work with the Ministry of Health to validate malaria early warning signals; the completion of HISP UiO’s Data.FI engagement supporting Madagascar’s national DHIS2 platform; and Vetle Alvenes Utvik’s PhD research on digital platform ecosystems as innovation commons.
